Event Announcements

The Manhattan Local of the Green Party is pleased to announce that we will have a general meeting featuring Marisa Holmes, an organizer with Occupy Wall Street (OWS) and Chris Williams, author of Ecology and Capitalism.  This meeting, open to the public, will be held Sunday, Nov. 6th from 3-5 PM in the Parish House of St. Paul & Andrew Church, 263 West 86th Street (West End Ave.).

Marisa was arrested filming the police pepper spraying peaceful OWS protestors at Union Square on Sept. 24th.  Go to YouTube (Marisa Holmes).  She is 24 years old, former student at the School of Art Institute of Chicago and member of Students For a Democratic Society.  Come and hear her first hand account on how OWS started and how it has blossomed into an unprecedented and historic movement challenging the worldwide economic and political system.

Chris is an adjunct professor of Physics and Ecology and the Environment at Pace Univ.  He spoke at the OWS event on Climate Change last Saturday and will speak  this Sunday on how OWS relates to the economic and environmental crises in Capitalism.
